As one of Canada’s busiest transplant centres, the University of Alberta Hospital is recognized as a leader for both the number of transplants performed and the success rate of organ transplants – for both adult and pediatric patients from northern and western Canada. Funds raised through the 2009 Festival of Trees will be used to develop a specially-equipped Transplant Operating Room. Time is crucial in transplantation surgery, and this will assist greatly in scheduling transplant surgery so it occurs as quickly as possible.
